How does a school nurture a child’s spirit alongside their intellect? At St. Mark’s Day School, located in Crown Heights, the answer is found in our monthly tradition of communal worship.
Join Us Every Third Wednesday
When: Every third Wednesday of the month
Time: 10:00 AM
Where: Church of St. Mark, 1417 Union St, Brooklyn, NY
Our school mass is a dedicated time for religious studies to move from the classroom into a living, spiritual practice. It is a cornerstone of our commitment to holistic education.
Students Leading the Liturgy

One of the most unique aspects of our service is that it is student-led. Rather than being passive observers, our students take an active role in the liturgy by reading from the Common Lectionary. During any given mass, you will see our young leaders presenting:
- Old Testament Lessons that ground us in history.
- The Psalms, often read responsively by the student body.
- New Testament Epistles offering practical wisdom.
- The Gospel Reading, the heart of our spiritual reflection.
The Power of Sacred Music
Spirituality at St. Mark’s is also a sensory experience. On special Wednesdays, the St. Mark’s School Choir performs. Their participation teaches students that worship can be expressed through art, discipline, and harmony.
