From the rhythmic ring of the steel pans to the soaring melodies of Bach, the incredible talent of our students filled the sanctuary of The Church of St. Mark in Brooklyn this past December 19th. The 2025 Annual Christmas Pageant was a beautiful celebration of faith, community, and the hard work of our young performers, providing a perfect conclusion to the school year.
Highlights from the Stage
This year’s program was packed with diverse performances, ranging from classic choral works to vibrant instrumental sets.
1. Lighting the Way with Pre-K & Kindergarten
Our youngest stars, directed by Ms. Cole, brought a beautiful international flair to the stage. They performed a play and song titled “Letra de Enciende Una Luz” (Letter of Lighting A Light) by Biper y Sus Amigos. It was a heartwarming reminder of how even the smallest hands can carry a big light.
2. “The Christmas Star”
Students from Grades 1, 3, 4, and 5 took us on a journey through the Nativity in their featured play, The Christmas Star. Directed by Ms. Hubbard and Ms. Perry, the production blended storytelling and drama to celebrate the guiding light that led the way to the manger.
3. Instrumental Excellence: Xylophones & Steel Pan
The sanctuary echoed with the bright, percussive sounds of our student musicians:
-
Xylophone Solos: Several students showcased their focus and precision with solo performances of holiday classics like The First Noel, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Carol of the Bells, Frosty the Snowman, and a special Happy Birthday to You, Jesus. Directed by Ms. Dolce.
-
The Student Steel Band: Bringing a rhythmic energy to the night, the steel band performed festive favorites including Jingle Bells and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. They closed their set with a unique, crowd-pleasing rendition of This Little Light of Mine, which they titled “This Little Mind of Mine.” Directed by Mr. Thompson.
4. A Choral Tribute
The vocal performances this year were truly sophisticated. The students filled the church with soaring melodies, including:
-
A spirited rendition of “Carol of the Bells”
-
The classical masterpiece “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” by Johann Sebastian Bach (JS Bach)

A Note of Gratitude
A massive thank you to our directors—Ms. Cole, Ms. Hubbard, Ms. Perry, Ms. Dolce, Mr. Thompson—and to the staff at Saint Mark’s Day School and The Church of St. Mark. Most importantly, thank you to the parents for supporting these young artists as they shared their gifts with us, and providing the footage.
As we begin this new year, we carry the light of this performance with us. Happy New Year to our entire Saint Mark’s family!
