Admission

Deciding on a school for your child is one of life’s major decisions, and one that must be made with great care and consideration. No one can argue that the central premise of Brain Development Research is that the early years are critical and pivotal for any child. This in essence means that we must provide as much innovative and cutting edge approaches in our methods of teaching.  But it also means that we should integrate innovation with time honored theories of teaching.

As you contemplate registering/re-registering your child at St. Mark’s Day School, be aware that there are a number of theoretical frameworks that influence our vision for this school. For example, we are launching a partnership with UCLA that will focus on “Classroom Walk Through”. This is a developing theory that examines the atmosphere and vitality of the classroom as a learning environment. It provides support for teachers and students in understanding the dynamics of teacher-student relationships.

Here are a few favorable results and several significant changes that we are proud of.  These are intended to enhance the overall quality of our school.:

Four offers to the Specialized Public High Schools.

Increased percentage of passes in the State Exams.

Stronger student leadership as demonstrated in Prefects, Class Monitors and Safety Patrol.

The Academic standard of the school is constantly evaluated.

Student deficiencies are caught earlier.

More efficient ways of communicating with families. Read More
