Overview of the Curriculum

The curriculum at St. Mark's Day School is based on the New York State Education Standards and prepares students for all required New York State examinations. Its major goal is to provide a learning environment that nurtures the student's academic, spiritual, moral, social, cutural, physical and mental growth, thus equipping them with the necessities for good citizenship, employment and life-long learning.

The objectives of the curriculum are:

1. to promote a healthy partnership among the school, home and community.
2. to foster students' commitment to the process of learning, formulating positive core values in order to create a vision for their future, set priorities, create options, take responsibility for achieving these goals, and monitor and evaluate their progress in a rapidly changing educational climate.

The curriculum consists of eleven (11) mandatory subject areas and cross curriculum instruction is encouraged:

5. Health Education
6. Physical Education
7. Religious Studies
8. Computer Studies
9. Music
10. Arts and Crafts
11. Spanish

Extra-Curricular Activites

Here at St. Mark's Day School, we take the conection between academic work and recreational activities as critical for our students' growth and development. With this is mind we are constantly integrating new and exciting activities and programs to challenge and enrich our curriculum. This year our extra-curricular activities will include School Choir and classes in French, Dance, Tennis and Karate.
